Gina grew up in the south of England and this is where she started her dance training at the age of 7.
She performed in her first London West End show at the age of 8, in the musical Carousel playing the youngest child of the Snow Family. From that moment on, Gina has continued to spend her life learning and sharing her passion for the theatre, musical theatre, and ballet.
Gina’s early years were spent at Stage Schools, where she blended academic school with the study of Ballet, Modern, National (ethnic dance), Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, ballroom, acting and voice.
With numerous professional summer and winter productions, performances, exams in all forms of dance, acting in movies and working for visiting ballet companies, Gina was fortunate to meet, observe, and learn from an amazing variety of top caliber artists.
At the age of 15 Gina was awarded a full, two year scholarship as a ballet major to attend Arts Educational Trust, which is a performing arts college in the heart of London U.K. affiliated at that time with The Festival Ballet Company. Here Gina continued her exams and studies in RAD and Russian Ballet, Pas de Deux, ISTD Modern Ballet, Jazz, Tap, National, Vocal training, 18th Century Court dances, Fencing and Acting.
At Arts Educational Gina danced professionally and received Teacher Qualifications in many subjects. Gaining her final Advanced RAD Ballet Exam from Mr. John Marshall, she was then the youngest student in the Company class.
Whilst at this performing arts college Gina was fortunate to have many gifted teachers and mentors coaching and guiding her such as Elizabeth Hodgeshon, Anne Hebard, Joyce Mackie, Eve Pettinger and Ben Stevenson.
After several years of dancing professionally in the UK, Gina accepted an opportunity to move to Vancouver Canada, to work and perform with world renowned choreographer Norbert Vesak and with his modern dance company.
During her time in Vancouver Gina also performed with Chief Dan George, in many CBC and CTV Television specials, danced in operas, and for choreographer Jack Card as part of the opening act for many of the music world headliners of the day. During this time Gina also taught RAD ballet and master classes in Vancouver, and in other Central and Western Canada cities.
Shortly after Norbert Vesak left the west coast Gina through the RAD, had the opportunity to be the acting Artistic Director for a ballet school and touring performance company in Mexico for two very memorable years. Whilst in Mexico she also had the opportunity to participate in the early beginnings of the Cuban Ballet System in Mexico City.
Upon returning to Canada, Gina opened her own school Sinclair Academy of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC. As the Artistic director and head teacher of the school and choreographer for the touring company, Gina was able to gather top faculty and guest artists to compliment the training of her students.
This incredible training offered at Sinclair Academy produced many professional artists as well as Provincial and National award winning dancers and choirs. The Sinclair Academy touring group "The Young Victorians" appeared many times as guest artists with the Victoria Symphony and performed on tour in California, Mexico, Honduras, Hawaii and Alaska.
Many Sinclair Academy alumni are today successful artists as teachers and Artistic directors of their own schools, in the music, film, musical theatre, ballet, and modern dance world.
After 23 very successful and very fulfilling years of Sinclair Academy, Gina retired the studio to again pursue her own career as a Guest and Master Teacher, Choreographer, Adjudicator and as a mentor to young pre-professional dancers.
For more than 20 years Gina was the rehearsal assistant for ballet companies such as Alberta Ballet, Eugene Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Moscow Ballet, Ballet BC and others, teaching lead and supporting roles to dancers for productions of Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Nutcracker and other ballets.
Gina is featured as one of 18 top international ballet teaching professionals in Dean Speers' book ‘On Technique’.
She has received many awards for her outstanding choreography, as well as awards and nominations in recognition of her long and successful association with the Royal Academy, and for her outstanding work within the Arts Community.
Gina’s work with students with disabilities, her mentoring work with young teachers and dancers, and her extensive volunteer work promoting the performing arts has also been recognized.
Gina continues to share her passion and her love of ballet and theatre with a full teaching schedule, as a guest master teacher, choreographer and adjudicator.
She also enjoys performing on stage in character roles, and feels immensely grateful that she has had so many opportunities to have such an interesting and successful career.
